OUR SHEPHERDS HUTS
Welcome to Goldcombe Shepherds’ Huts, home to our two beautifully appointed huts, Hardy and Black Down. Both enjoy stunning views across the Dorset countryside towards the famous Hardy Monument, dedicated to Sir Thomas Hardy of “Kiss me, Hardy” fame. It is undoubtedly one of the finest views in Dorset. Each hut sleeps two guests in a comfortable double bed and includes a well-equipped kitchen, an en-suite bathroom with a powerful shower and flushing toilet, and everything you need for a peaceful countryside escape.

























FACILITIES & AMENITIES
Kitchen
The kitchen area in each hut is equipped with a sink, fridge, kettle and combination microwave. Each hut is also supplied with a kitchen hand towel, two tea towels, washing-up liquid, antibacterial spray, a dishcloth, sponge scourer and washing-up brush, as well as kitchen roll, cling film and kitchen foil.
Double Bed
All bedding provided.
Showers
Two toilet rolls, bath towels, hand towels and a bath mat are provided for your stay.
Wood Burning Hot Tub
Both huts offer the added luxury of a wood-fired Skargards hot tub, available for an additional charge. The price includes firelighters and logs. The hot tubs are not lit before your arrival, but clear instructions are provided to help you get them heated and ready to enjoy. Hardy: £50 per stay Black Down (with bubble jets): £60 per stay
Woodburning Stove
Logs, kindling and firelighters are provided.
Fire Pit and BBQ
A Weber barbecue is provided, along with charcoal and barbecue tools. A cast-iron fire pit is also available, with logs supplied.
Equine
Guests are welcome to bring their horse with them. A paddock and field shelter are available next to the huts, with access to excellent local riding routes. Please contact us directly to discuss availability and pricing.
Dogs
A maximum of two well-behaved dogs are welcome per booking. As the huts currently share a garden area, we ask that dogs are kept under control and do not disturb other guests.
Camping
Family option: Guests are welcome to bring one tent to pitch beside their hut. This option accommodates up to two adults and four children. Please contact us directly to book and discuss pricing.
Parking
The huts are situated within their own private, secure paddock, with parking directly beside each hut. Simply park up, unpack and unwind.
Local Area
We are situated within easy reach of Dorset’s spectacular Jurassic Coast and surrounded by beautiful countryside, with plenty of excellent walking routes to explore. The Fleet and Chesil Beach are close by, along with a wide selection of pubs, cafés and restaurants. Recommended local pubs - The Brewers Arms, Martinstown - The Kings Arms, Portesham - The Elm Tree Inn, Langton Herring - The Swan Inn, Abbotsbury We recommend checking opening hours and booking ahead, particularly during weekends and the summer months.

Working Livery Yard
Goldcombe Shepherds’ Huts are located at Goldcombe Farm, a busy working livery yard. For the safety of guests and horses, access to the yard and paddocks is strictly prohibited unless accompanied by a member of staff. Dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times, and guests must not feed the horses.
